Yuta Kurimoto heads the Silicon Valley Digital Innovation Lab of Japan’s SMBC group. SMBC group is one of the world’s largest financial institutions and offers a broad range of financial services, including commercial banking, consumer finance, securities, leasing, and other banking activities. SMBC group is also committed to creating new businesses both in the financial and non-financial areas by taking advantage of technological changes.
As the Head of Silicon Valley Digital Innovation Lab, which is based in Menlo Park, California at the heart of Silicon Valley, he leads many initiatives of SMBC group’s research and development in digital innovation. Yuta has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry. After joining SMBC in April 1996, he has held various leading positions in corporate strategic planning, strategic financing, and digital innovation.
