Gillian Riley is Scotiabank’s Executive-Vice President, Canadian Commercial Banking.
Gillian assumed this role in 2015, and is responsible for the overall strategic positioning, growth, and direct management of several integrated business areas that provide financial offerings, including corporate finance solutions, to businesses across Canada. She is also a member of the Risk Policy and Senior Credit Committees at the Bank.
She joined Scotiabank in 1994, and has held executive and senior leadership positions in retail, small business, commercial banking, and operations groups. Gillian is an active business and community leader, and serves as a Director of St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation, and the Chair of Roynat Capital. She is the Past President of the Canadian Club of Toronto and has also held a number of director and advisory roles for various health, government and financial services organizations.
In 2016, she was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN), which recognizes the professional achievements of strong female leaders across the country.
Gillian holds a Master of Business Administration from the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford in Connecticut, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario (Western University).
